Reflection Number 1: Mission Trip DC Summer 2009

This trip has been one of my best experiences. I have learned that we all are very similar. It doesn't matter if you are from Spain for the USA or if you speak English or Spanish. I have known a lot of people and they all have been so so nice to me. I am very grateful for that. You have helped me when I didn't know how to say a sentence and have made me feel like I am at home.

On this trip I have felt so good helping people. It has made me think about all that I have (a house, a family, a school, food when I want it) and how I don't realize how lucky I am. I have seen people who can't buy food because they didn't have the money and how they smiled at you when you gave them food. It is something that I'll never forget.

I want to thank everyone who made this trip possible. This trip gave me a beautiful opportunity to help people.

Mission Sunday November 8th

This Sunday November 8th is Mission Sunday!

The youth group will be sitting up front together as many of the youth groupers participate in the service by talking about their experiences in DC. Over the next several weeks we will feature the stories from mission trips past and why these trips are so important to the teens who participate in them.

We will be giving out bags of cookies as a thank you to the congregation after church.

Mission trips make a huge difference in the lives of the people we serve and in the lives of the teens and adults doing the serving. We are taking Gods love and delivering it directly to people in need. By traveling for our trips we allow the teens to bond in a new way, and we show the people we help that they are worth traveling for!

Check out our bulletin board across for the senior high room near fellowship hall. Also, we will be filling everyone in on the details of the trip on September 27th during Mission Sunday at church.

I look forward to seeing everyone for our first parlor meeting on September 20th!

Wrap Up 2008/2009 School Year

This has been an amazing year! We have an wonderful group of 45 teens in our senior high youth group, and a talented group of teen leaders ready to create our next leadership team. We have enjoyed opportunities to bond as a group, learn, serve, and strengthen our faith. We are winding down the school year, and gearing up for our mission trip to Washington DC this summer. We have a lot of great work sites lined up for this trip. It will offer an opportunity for our teens to give back, and experience what it is like to help others in a meaningful way in a different environment.

Our theme for this year's trip is "give love". The teens would like to give from the abundance of love that they receive from family, friends, and community, to people who are not as fortunate so that they may also feel loved too.

We look forward to bringing back pictures and stories of how this trip changes our view of the world, and the positive impact we are able to have on it!

April 5th 2009

This April started off with the topic of forgiveness. We looked at what it means to us to forgive, and when we feel we can and can't do it. Our church is blessed with a very insightful group of teens! May the magic of the Easter season bless each of us with new insight into what it means to truly forgive ourselves and others.

Looking Forward to Easter and an Awesome April!

We are entering April, and there are only 3 more months left in the school year! This week we will be looking at forgiveness as it relates to our friends, family, and people in general. Come join us for food and friendship while you recharge from your hectic school schedule!

The past few weeks we have been looking at where our faith comes from and the experiences that have shaped what we believe in. We also looked at judgment, and how and why we judge other people and ourselves.

I look forward to seeing all the senior high youth group teens this Sunday as we gear up for Easter in just 2 weeks!

This week, April 5th, the senior high is in charge of Coffee Hour and Greeting so please arrive at 9:45am to help. We still need help with clean up so please let me know if you can stay for a few minutes to help. Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help so far!
